Any BM Hunters here?
I think its time to change my armour (English and correct spelling you'll note lol) after repeatedly trying unsuccessfully tonight to light bonfires under 4 towers near Honour (correct spelling not the illiterate method) Hold.
For some time now I have used the Green Dragonscale set to gain mana, but the actual armour level is low compared to what any other level 59 hunter could get. I realise the buff is the thing to go for with hunters as the pet does the work, but still can anyone suggest a suitable / recommended upgrade?
Also, I used to know but have forgotten - what are the stats I ought to look for in weapons or armour?
I wish I knew anything about Hunters so I could offer some sound advice. My guestimate would be find things that are Stamina and Agility based, but Nickster is a professional Hunter. She would know!
Im MM but go for agility, stamina, attack power, intellect. Not that I have any +int gear yet, so I go through a few pots in instances. But I suppose everyone does. As Tan says, maybe Nickster could add something?
IMO, pretty much anything you will find in outlands is a huge upgrade over them. Take a look at a green BOE chest piece, Netherstalker Armor of the Bandit. It has +21 Agility, +31 Stamina, +42 Attack Power. Not only are you gaining 210 extra health, you are gaining a large increase to crit and 63 AP (and RAP) [4.5 DPS]. Or, if you are concerned with mana regen, the "Of the elder" Netherstalker piece has +31 Stamina, +21 Intellect, +8 Mana Per 5 sec. Once again, instead of worrying about 5sr and getting set bonuses, you right away get 8mp5, more than the two set bonues alone.
I won't know that much about hunters, but the one I have focus first on Agi, then AP. IMO, for leveling purposes Stam, while nice, isn't really needed. If you pull an extra mob, you can freeze it, feign death, or have your pet tank two. If you pull more, you can kite or do whatever else. Int is nice, as is mana regen, but for grinding, if you start running low on mana, you can just auto-shoot. Might not be the most efficient damage, but autoshooting a few mobs down is enough to get you a respectable amount of mana back.
But as other people have stated, hopefully Nickster will show up and give a wonderful explanation....afterall, she was crazy good at leveling!
thanks everyone. I dont know if I can get Netherregion armour yet - or at least I havent seen it around. Its crazy good to be getting up to 12s in drops in Outland so now I have the itch back to play Hunter again I will be leveling up hopefully to 60 by the end of the weekend.
My main area of uncertainty is that putting it simply if it werent for the buffs, a BM hunter could be naked as he ought not to get into melee combat. Of course thats incorrect as sometimes you pull accidentally. So I dont want to get the "wrong" armour - or rather if theres something out there particularly good for me and my pet I would rather get that than waste money on duff-stuff.
So come on Nickster - we await the Oracle :)

Hey there =P. Mana is the last thing you should be worried about as a BM hunter, while it’s true your pet does a lot of the work, it doesn’t do enough on it’s own to top you on the DPS charts, so the order of the stats you want to look for highly depends on what you plan on doing, like Raiding or PvP'ing. Assuming you're going to be doing the PvE aspect of the game, the order of stats you want is +Agi (first and foremost), Attack Power, Int, then stam. The higher your crit chance and AP are, the faster you kill things. Sure it's good to always have mana and never run out, trust me i know, I do run out of mana alot becuase intellect is not something i focused on, i'm lvl 70 and only sitting on about 6k mana, BUT my autoshot crits for 1k quite often while my pet is chomping away at whatever I’m killing, so even though i'm out of mana i'm still deadly in PvE. Don't worry about Mp5 right now, later on after you hit 70 there is plenty of hunter gear that has the agi, stam, int, ap and +mp5 on one piece of gear. Right now Gear wise, you want to look for anything that is "of the monkey" or "of the bandit" Another thing is, don't be scared to wear leather ONLY if the stats are better than the mail gear you are currently wearing, i have a few leather pieces myself from Kara, i dropped my mail gear for them cause i was gaining a TON of agi and ap with it, leather isn’t something you want to LOOK for, but if u come across it and it’s better, by all means use it! =) I’m also going to assume that you want Mp5 gear cause you are tired of running out of mana? The more you focus on mana and neglect agi and ap, the more mana you are going to use to kill a mob because it will take u a lot longer to kill it, so that might be contributing to any OOM problems you might be having (but again that is just an assumption?).
You can take a look at some of my gear to get a better example of the stats you should be looking for. My spec right now is SV, respecced a few days ago for the raid this weekend to give it a try, but with BM and the gear i have i sit at about 8900HP, 5900mana, 1300 AP (unbuffed), 22% crit. My gear focuses on Agi, AP, Stam, THEN mana, in that order, but that's because i'm a PvP'er so I stack on stam to last longer (that would be the only difference in order between PvP and PvE) http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kalecgos&n=Nicks...
Another thing, You will be getting aspect of the Viper soon, which it gives x amount of mana for a certain percentage depending on your x amount of intellect. This is a good thing to have, very valuable, when I have this on it takes me longer to run OOM, and if I recall correctly you get that at level 60. Go get some new gear! Stack up on that Agi and AP, and go out and kill stuff, you will notice a HUGE difference in the speed of killing things, and you will become just as Agi, and AP obsessed as all the other hunters out there =P.

I hadnt thought about increasing my crit chance either so thats something to look at as well. Its all a lot more "complicated" than you at first think isnt it? lol.

Yes Definitely Chunderpants on Bronze Dragonflight EU server. If it helps any - which it wont lol, I only got an error when trying to view your stats from your link too. I get that sometimes with the armoury.
Dont pay too much attention to mine atm anyway as Im in the process of changing around my armour, I just dont want to buy stuff on the AH if Im going to get decent rewards for quests, and tbh just recently in Outland I have been getting for the first time rewards that are actually useful and I can use.

How are u liking lvling with the MM tree by the way? I leveled BM, but i respecced to MM for a little bit when i hit 70 to try it out for PvP, and that lasted all of five minutes, a few duels in front of org and i was crying and wanting my BM back, but i suppose that's because i didn't know the strategies of MM since i didn't level with it, i know a few hunters that are MM that just kick hte crap out of tons of other players, but i know BM like the back of my hand, i feel naked without the spec. XD
Thanks Nicky, yeah I know I need more intellect, but its hard stuff to come across - most I find is +int/+spirit which I dont want really. I love MM. Licks or Huggy keep a lot of aggro off me whilst I pew pew :)
I have other gear for more +agility but im wearing my other stuff atm. My crits are about 1300 when they land which is quite good. I chose MM only because everyone said go BM!! I like to buck the trend :)

I took a look at your talent tree and your gear and i wanna help you out with some pointers here and there, i'ma do a lil research on it for ya though when i get home, links and such, i'm confident that once u upgrade your gear and change out a few of the + items you will LOVE your hunter 100 times more, and you'll notice a vast change in the damage you deal. But for now i can talk to you about your talent tree =).
You're doing good in the talents you chose, the ONLY suggestion i would make is in the MM tree....Lethal shots was an excellent choice =D i'm specc'd in it myself, imp hunters mark is ok that one is good either way it's just about preference, i went with the mana reduction of shots becuase well...i don't have a large mana pool and it helps in being able to use shot rotations longer before i'm forced to just autoshot, and Aimed shot is FTW! XD love that in PvP, the only thing i would suggest is for you to respec and drop the point in Go for the throat and drop the two points in rapid killing, they really aren't very useful, when i went full MM i didn't even spend points on that, and with those three points i would put them in the BM tree, so that when you ding 61, you can get The Beast Within. This is an AWESOME thing to have, i'm not sure if you PvP or not, but when getting ganked and you get stunned, you pop this and you get out of it, and they can't stun u for the duration of hte time, and they can't stun ur pet either. It really is the most valuable thing in the BM tree along with intimidation =D. Once you have that another recommendation i have is to go full 5/5 in Mortal Shots in the MM tree, you'll have to put four more talent poitns in MM to get to that though, i would recommend going the route of using less mana per shots, but if you wanted something else, it couldn't hurt =). When i was instancing i was always at the bottom of the DPS charts, when i respecced and got mortal shots, i had improved a great deal!
Anywho, those are just suggestions =P i'll post more later on when i get the chance about gear upgrades. I see you got the Mail leggings from one of the first few quests in Hellfire, i wore those for a WHILE. =D
