Tera Beta Plan

The following was posted by Raven on the Tera site. Unfortunately copy and paste totally fucked up the table so I had a go manually:
____________________________________________

One of the most asked questions in the last weeks were about the upcoming beta phases for TERA. Today we want to share our plan for all upcoming beta sessions with you, so be sure to check out our complete list:

CBT 1 from 17.02.2012 to 19.02.2012
CBT 2 from 02.03.2012 to 04.03.2012
CBT 3 from 16.03.2012 to 18.03.2012
CBT 4 from 30.03.2012 to 01.04.2012
CBT 5 from 13.04.2012 to 15.04.2012

Character wipe

OBT from 19.04.2012 to 24.04.2012

Character wipe

PCC from 26.04.2012 to 27.04.2012

Head Start from 28.04.2012 to 02.05.2012

Launch 03.05.2012

•Please note that dates and details are subject to changes.

Explanation:

CBT = Closed Beta Test
OBT = Open Beta Test – Available for everyone
PCC = Pre Character Creation & Name reservation for pre-order customers

Head Start = only for pre-order customers / If you pre-order TERA, you’ll be able to create a character and reserve your favorite name in advance and you’ll also be able to enter the servers before the actual launch date.

All tests will be held without any active NDA (Non disclosure agreement).

Some of you have already received an email containing the information that you’ve been selected to the beta (Chunder = No!). However, many of you will still have the chance to receive a beta key in the upcoming weeks (Chunder = I'd better!).

Besides our beta sign up form, you can also preorder TERA in our online shop and receive access to all upcoming beta phases of TERA. Aside from that, we also run regular contests and giveaways where you’ll also be able to get your hands on a key.

Please note that some keys will grant an access for all beta phases, while other keys are just for just one specific test phase. For that reason, when you get a key or invitation, be sure to check the email text completely. All our previous testers who joined the test sessions of 2011 in Europe will also receive an access to all listed beta sessions automatically. (bastards!)

Additionally, we want to point out again that there will be no NDA for the above listed tests. This means that you are free to share your feedback, videos and screenshots with everyone or even write about the game on your guild page or fansite.

With all that said, we hope you’ll have a lot of fun with testing out TERA and we hope to see you all soon on our test servers!

I'd love to try out the beta, but I put in my request maybe...a year and a half ago? o__O When they were first starting to get publicized. Chances are I won't be chosen.

If anyone here gets chosen, please please please post and let us know what you think! :3

Is this not going to be yet another WoW type clone, like RIFT that is now going first 20 levels free? After so many clones that started out great and lacked population after a few months, I can't find myself getting excited about yet another one.

Me neither if Im honest. Sure it looks fantastic, but they all do and I just waste money buying them.

I'd still play the CBT though.

It might be, but I know there are or were some big differences.

Aiming your spells/weapons at monsters instead of tab targeting/selecting. You have to fire in the direction of the mob to actually hit it.

Tanks have to stand in front of the mob as well, not only to hit it but to absorb frontal attacks. Even if they have aggro, from my understanding they would not absorb and therefore "tank" the attacks if they were to the side or behind.

There might be some more differences, but those were two big ones that I was excited to see in action. :]

I agree, and the art looks so much like I remember Guild Wars used to be - a huge plus for me. The problem is that every single new MMO release has "that little/big difference" which is supposed to set itself apart from all of the rest and make it THE game you will want to play. And for a while they do, but maybe its me and not the games...I dont know.

All I know is I will try and squeeze myself so I resist buying it and probably make another mistake.

Well it looks like the "sneak peek" event this weekend didnt go quite according to plan...lol. I just picked this up off Facebook:

Quote:
We’re currently not able to tell you, when the existing problems can be solved. Therefore we cannot tell you a new start date for the sneak peek event. We continue to work on a solution as fast as possible. Of course we want to make up for the lost time, this includes additional time for our sneak peek testers.

As soon as we actually can announce a new launch date for the sneak peek, we’ll inform you right away.

Again, we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused and we continue to work on fixing the current issues as fast as possible.

I admit I was a little bit annoyed that I didnt manage to get a key from the various places that announced them - I just wasnt fast enough or refused to register for accounts to sites in order to do so, however I would have been doubly annoyed to have won a key, downloaded the client, and then find that the steaming pile of dogpoo didnt work. I do feel bad for those buggers that did win a key though.

Far be it from me to criticise (lol, yeah right) but you'd kind of think that something as serious as 'it aint gonna work at all' would be picked up before now.

Well that is poop! Kinda glad they're figuring these things out now instead of when everything is live and available for purchase, though.

At least...I hope they're figuring them out. ):
