Geek Squad

Driving in to work this morning, I had the chance to listen to a rather interestin topic. Geek Squad, a subpart to Best Buy, is a company that you bringall your computer/technology problems to, and they will solve them. Or, they will come out to your location and help you solve them.

"The Pocket Man"

Just before the weekend a man (55) was apprehended in Norway, for allegedly (it's pretty stuck, but you know, he's not convicted yet) being the infamous "Pocket Man" (Lommemannen).

Upcoming titles

Final Fantasy XIII

When I was looking to buy my Wii, I knew I had a hard choice ahead of me. When it came down to the wire, I was going to have to choose between PS3 or Wii. More specifically, I was choosing between Zelda and Final Fantasy. Zelda finally won out. But, after seeing Final Fantasy XIII's trailer, I'm starting to think I made a poor choice. (not really, as my fiance LOVES the Wii) ((ok that didn't sound too good. shuddup))

No more analogue

In February of 2009, all television signals will be converted into digital signals in the US. This means, unless you have a digital television, your TV will no longer work.

Story here

So, within a year I either have to go out and buy a few digital cable converters or buy a few new televisions.

Very strange.

King of Man

Growing up, almost every boy wants to be a King or Knight or Duke. Well, it just so happens that a Maryland Man got this dream when he was contacted by a British Geneologist saying he was the rightful King of the Isle of Man, a small british island between Ireland and Scotland. Long story short, he sent a letter to the Queen of England, and after 90 days without contest, she sent him a crown, a robe, and a spoon, along with the titleship of King of Man.

This makes me sick

If I were the father of the fallen soldier, every single one of them would be shot in the head.

Tired of spin classes? Try Wii workout station

TORONTO - A Canadian health club is offering a new form of exercise for people bored with the treadmill or cycling classes — the Wii Workout Station.

Studeo 55 in Vancouver, British Columbia, has incorporated a Nintendo Wii workout station into circuit training where users can punch, run and jump with the system’s movement-sensitive controller.

While some other gyms have combined stationary bikes with PlayStations and Xboxes in a bid to win younger clients, a spokesman for Nintendo Canada said this is the first they have heard of a gym using the Wii in its schedule.

A study conducted by researchers at the Liverpool John Moores University in England found that regular use of the console could burn up to 1,830 calories a per week — the equivalent of almost four Big Macs.

Nintendo is also currently developing Wii Fit, a 2008 video game with an array of activities, from yoga to aerobics.

A healthy way to spend your summer?

Lo and behold, fellow gamers. The Globe and Mail, Canada's national newspaper, had an article this morning that made me smile.

A healthy way to spend your summer? It sure is!
Better vision. Better social skills. Better brains. Better lots of things. Guy Dixon reports on why taking up video games - and, you know, becoming a skull-faced warlock whose job is to destroy the eggs of enemy bird monsters - may just be the smartest thing you'll ever do.

Read and learn, young padawan.

21 yr old to pay $210k in taxes

Barry Bonds broke the lifetime Home Run record a couple days ago. (/shrug, I didn't know about it until today...)

Anywho, the kid who caught the ball that broke the record is now being taxed by the IRS for the estimated value of the ball at $600,000, for a tax of $210,000. The thing is...the kid said he wasn't going to sell it right away. So now, this 21 year old college student, owes the IRS $210,000, without himself having made any money off of it.

Some news from my neck of the woods

I have been having the most incredibly boring week at work ever. There is literally nothing for me to do. I have read through the 100 or so 200-500 page documents pertaining to what I do twice, and I still reek of boredom. So, I have been spending an attrocious amount of time on this site, wow.net and somd.com, my local area forums (SOuthern maryland [MD]).
